Elements

Open an SVG to inspect its elements.

Files never leave your browserHow?

Open an .svg file or paste SVG code to preview it safely, zoom in, check its size and viewBox and inspect every element. Nothing is uploaded.

How it works

  1. Open or paste an SVG

Drop an .svg or .svgz file on the code panel, use Open file, paste the markup or load the sample.

  2. Zoom, pan and inspect

Scroll or pinch to zoom, drag to pan, press Fit to see the whole drawing. Pick an element in the tree or on the canvas to see its attributes.

  3. Edit, clean up or convert

Edit the code and watch the preview update, optimize it with SVGO, download a clean SVG or send it to the PNG converter.

Features

  • Safe preview

Scripts, event handlers, foreignObject, javascript: links and external references are removed before display, so a malicious SVG cannot run code.

  • Zoom that stays sharp

The drawing is re-rendered as vectors at every zoom level, from 1% to 6400%.

  • Backgrounds and grid

Check transparency on a checkerboard, or use white, black or any color. A grid helps align icons.

  • Size and viewBox at a glance

The status line shows width, height, viewBox, file size and the number of elements and paths.

  • Element inspector

Browse the element tree, highlight shapes on the canvas and read their attributes.

  • Live code panel

Highlighted, editable code; the preview follows your edits. SVGO cleanup runs in a background worker.

Limits & privacy

Inline preview, code editing and the element inspector work for files up to 5 MB. Files from 5 MB to 50 MB (large maps, plots) are shown as an image: zoom and backgrounds work, the code panel and the inspector are off. Syntax highlighting is off above 2 MB.

Text uses the fonts installed on your device. External images, stylesheets and fonts are never requested, so the preview can differ from a browser that loads them. See the privacy page.

FAQ

How do I open an SVG file online?

Click Open file or drag the .svg or .svgz file onto this page. It is shown right away and never sent to a server.

Can I view the SVG code as well as the image?

Yes. The code panel shows the highlighted markup next to the preview, and every edit updates the picture instantly.

Is there an SVG viewer for Windows 10, Windows 11 or Mac without installing an app?

This page is one. It works in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on Windows, macOS and Linux — no app or extension needed.

How do I open SVG files on Android or iPhone?

Open this page in your mobile browser, tap Open file, then pinch to zoom and drag to move around.

Is it safe to open an SVG from an unknown source?

An SVG can contain scripts. Here they are stripped with event handlers and external links before display, and you can download the cleaned copy.

Why do images or fonts inside my SVG not show?

References to other servers or to nearby files are blocked for privacy and safety. Embed images and fonts as data: URLs.

How can I turn an SVG into a PNG?

Press → PNG. The file opens in the SVG to PNG converter, where you choose scale, background and format.
