Randomize lines and pick random items from a list
This tool shuffles the lines of a text into a random order. Paste a list, press Shuffle again for a new order, or pick a few random lines as a sample or raffle winners.

How it works
Paste the list
One item per line: names, questions, test cases, playlist entries or CSV rows.
Shuffle
The list is shuffled as soon as you paste it. Shuffle again gives a new order; a seed gives the same order every time.
Take what you need
Copy the whole shuffled list or only the first N lines as a random sample.
Features
Fair, unbiased shuffle
Fisher–Yates shuffle driven by the browser's cryptographic random generator with rejection sampling, so every order is equally likely – no Math.random and no modulo bias.
Repeatable with a seed
Type any seed text to get a deterministic order: the same list and the same seed give the same result on every device, so a draw can be checked later.
Random sample
Pick N lines to draw winners, choose questions for a quiz or sample rows for testing without repeats.
Header and groups
Keep the first line (a CSV header) on top, and keep blocks of lines together – for example question and answer pairs – while the blocks are shuffled.
Limits & privacy
Lists and files can be up to 200 MB. Shuffling needs the whole list in memory; files above 8 MB are shuffled in a background worker and the result is downloaded.
Duplicates are kept: if a line appears twice it can be drawn twice. Remove them first with Remove Duplicate Lines if each value should appear once. The seeded generator (sfc32 seeded from a hash of the seed text) is fixed, so a seed keeps producing the same order in future versions of this page.
The list is shuffled in your browser and never uploaded. See the privacy page.
FAQ
How do I randomize a list?
Paste the list, one item per line. The result is already shuffled; press Shuffle again for another order.
Is the shuffle really random?
Without a seed it uses crypto.getRandomValues, the browser's cryptographically secure generator, with an unbiased Fisher–Yates shuffle. With a seed it is reproducible by design and not suitable for security purposes.
How do I pick a random winner from a list?
Set "Pick N lines" to the number of winners. Each person appears at most once; turn on Remove empty lines so blank lines cannot win.
Can I get the same random order again?
Yes. Enter a seed such as "raffle-2026". Anyone who pastes the same list with the same seed gets the same order.
How do I shuffle a CSV file without moving the header?
Turn on "Keep first line on top". The header stays first and the data rows are shuffled.
