How it works
Paste titles
One title per line – a single blog post or a whole list of products or categories.
Set the rules
Separator, lowercase, transliteration, German umlauts, symbols, camelCase splitting, stop words, numbers and a maximum length.
Copy the slugs
Each line becomes one slug in the same order, ready to paste into a CMS or a spreadsheet.
Features
Transliteration, not deletion
Accented letters lose their accents (é → e), special letters are spelled out (ß → ss, æ → ae, ø → o, ł → l) and Cyrillic and Greek are transliterated (Я люблю → ya-lyublyu). Many slug tools simply drop such letters.
German umlauts
Optional ä → ae, ö → oe, ü → ue, the spelling German URLs usually use: "Straße in München" → "strasse-in-muenchen".
Ampersands and apostrophes
& becomes and, other symbols and emoji are dropped, and apostrophes join words, so "don't" becomes dont instead of don-t.
Length limit at word boundaries
Set a maximum length and the slug is cut after the last whole word that fits, never ending with a separator.
Unicode slugs when you want them
Turn transliteration off to keep letters of any script, for sites that use internationalized URLs.
Limits & privacy
Text and files can be up to 200 MB; each line is processed on its own, and files above 8 MB are processed in a background worker.
Transliteration covers Latin letters with diacritics, Russian, Ukrainian, Belarusian and Serbian Cyrillic, and Greek. Other scripts are kept only with transliteration off. Slugs are not checked for uniqueness – your CMS decides what to do with duplicates.
Your titles are processed in the browser and never uploaded. See the privacy page.
FAQ
What is a URL slug?
The readable part of a URL that identifies a page, such as "remove-line-breaks" in /remove-line-breaks/. Good slugs are short, lowercase and use hyphens between words.
Should I use hyphens or underscores in slugs?
Hyphens. Google recommends hyphens to separate words in URLs; underscores join words together for some systems.
How are accented and non-Latin letters handled?
With transliteration on, they are converted to ASCII: é → e, ß → ss, Ж → zh, θ → th. Scripts without a transliteration table here, such as Chinese or Arabic, are removed in ASCII mode.
Should stop words be removed from slugs?
It shortens long slugs, but can change the meaning. The option removes common English words (a, the, of, and …) only if something is left.
Can I slugify many titles at once?
Yes. Each line produces one slug, and empty lines stay empty so the output lines up with the input.
