This case converter changes text to Title Case, Sentence case, UPPER CASE, lower case or programmer cases such as camelCase and snake_case. Paste your text, pick a case and a style guide, and copy the result.

How it works

  1. Paste text

Each line is converted on its own, so you can paste one headline or a list of a hundred titles or variable names.

  2. Pick a case

Choose the target case; for Title Case also choose the style guide that decides which short words stay lowercase.

  3. Copy the result

The converted text updates as you type. Copy it or download it as a file.

Features

  • Title Case by style guide

Chicago and MLA lowercase articles, prepositions of any length and coordinating conjunctions ("Gone with the Wind"). AP and APA lowercase only short words of three letters or fewer ("Gone With the Wind"). The first and last word and the word after a colon are always capitalized.

  • Acronyms and brand names kept

Words in capitals (NASA, HTML) and words with inner capitals (iPhone, JavaScript) are left as typed. A line written entirely in capitals is converted as normal text.

  • Programmer cases

camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, kebab-case, CONSTANT_CASE and dot.case. Words are split at spaces, punctuation and case changes, so XMLHttpRequest becomes xml_http_request.

  • Language-correct letters

Case mapping follows Unicode, so ß becomes SS in upper case. Choose Turkish or Azerbaijani rules to get İ and ı right.

Limits & privacy

Text and files can be up to 200 MB. Text up to 256 KB is converted on every keystroke; longer text and files above 8 MB are converted line by line in a background worker.

Title Case rules are built from the style guides’ published word lists; the tool cannot tell a preposition from an adverb or a proper noun from a common word, so titles with phrasal verbs or names (such as “Up” as a film title) may need a manual touch. Upper and lower case use the Unicode case mappings of your browser.

Your text never leaves the browser. See the privacy page.

FAQ

What is the difference between AP and Chicago title case?

AP capitalizes prepositions and conjunctions of four letters or more (With, From, Into); Chicago lowercases all prepositions regardless of length. Both lowercase a, an, the and short conjunctions.

Which words are not capitalized in a title?

Articles (a, an, the), coordinating conjunctions (and, but, or, nor) and prepositions – all of them in Chicago and MLA, only short ones in AP and APA – unless they are the first or last word.

Does it recognise phrasal verbs like "Turn Off"?

No. The converter does not analyse grammar, so "off" in "Turn Off the Lights" is lowercased as a preposition. Fix such words by hand.

How do I convert a phrase to camelCase or snake_case?

Choose camelCase or snake_case. Spaces, hyphens and dots separate words; accents and other letters are kept as they are.

How do I change ALL CAPS text to normal text?

Choose Sentence case. Every letter is lowercased except the first letter of each sentence.

Is my text saved anywhere?

No. The conversion runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded or stored.
