How it works
Paste Markdown
Paste a changelog or guide, open a .md file or try the sample.
Pick the forum
phpBB and generic forums, XenForo, Steam or Nexus Mods; each has different heading, list and table tags.
Post it
Copy the BBCode into the forum editor in source (BBCode) mode.
Features
Forum dialects
Steam uses [h1] and [olist], XenForo [HEADING=1], [ICODE] and [TABLE], phpBB and Nexus get [size] headings.
Tables everywhere
Where the forum has table tags they are used; otherwise the table becomes aligned monospace text in [code].
Code with language
Fenced code becomes [code=python] where the forum highlights code.
Literal brackets
Text that looks like a tag, such as [b], is protected with [noparse] or [PLAIN] so it is not formatted by accident.
Limits & privacy
Files up to 10 MB. Inputs above 256 KB are converted in a Web Worker, so the page stays responsive. Nothing is uploaded: the conversion runs in your browser, and Open from URL fetches the file directly from the address you enter. See the privacy page.
Notes
Numbered lists always start at 1. Raw HTML is dropped. Footnotes become [1] markers with notes at the end, below a line.
FAQ
Which forums use BBCode?
phpBB, XenForo, vBulletin, MyBB, SMF, Steam community guides and Nexus Mods descriptions, among others.
Why do headings look different per forum?
BBCode has no standard heading tag. Steam and XenForo have one; on phpBB and Nexus a heading is large bold text.
Is strikethrough supported?
Steam, XenForo and Nexus have strike tags. phpBB has none by default, so the text stays plain.
Do images work?
Yes, as [img]url[/img]. Use full https:// URLs; relative paths cannot load on a forum.
Can I use it for Discord?
Discord uses Markdown, not BBCode. Paste your Markdown directly.
