This converter turns Markdown into Org mode for Emacs, Logseq and Orgzly: star headings, #+BEGIN_SRC blocks, [[url][text]] links, checkboxes, tables and footnotes. Paste Markdown and copy the .org text.

How it works
Paste Markdown
Paste notes, open a .md file or try the sample.
Tune the output
Use the first H1 as #+TITLE:, choose ~code~ or =verbatim= and alignment cookies for tables.
Save as .org
Download the file or paste it into an Emacs buffer; press C-c C-c in a table to realign it.
Features
Org emphasis
**bold** becomes *bold*, _italic_ /italic/, ~~strike~~ +strike+, `code` ~code~.
Source blocks
Fenced code becomes #+BEGIN_SRC python … #+END_SRC; lines starting with * or #+ are comma-escaped as Org requires.
Checkboxes and numbering
Task lists become - [X] and - [ ]; a list starting at 3 gets the [@3] counter cookie.
Footnotes section
Footnotes become [fn:label] references with definitions under a * Footnotes heading.
Limits & privacy
Files up to 10 MB. Inputs above 256 KB are converted in a Web Worker, so the page stays responsive. Nothing is uploaded: the conversion runs in your browser, and Open from URL fetches the file directly from the address you enter. See the privacy page.
Limits
Raw HTML becomes @@html:…@@ snippets or #+BEGIN_EXPORT html blocks. A pipe inside a table cell is written as \vert{} because | always splits Org table cells.
FAQ
Why are there invisible characters in my output?
Org emphasis only works next to spaces or punctuation. Where Markdown puts * or / inside words, a zero-width space is inserted, the escape the Org manual recommends.
Does it work with Logseq?
Logseq reads Org files; headings, links and source blocks work. Logseq-specific properties are not created.
How are images written?
As [[https://…/image.png]] links, which Org shows inline with org-display-inline-images; alt text becomes #+CAPTION.
Are tables aligned?
Yes, columns are padded. Aligned Markdown columns add a <l> <c> <r> cookie row.
Can I export the Org file to HTML or PDF?
Yes, with Emacs (C-c C-e). For Markdown to HTML directly, use the Markdown to HTML converter.
