Limits & privacy
Files up to 10 MB. Inputs above 256 KB are converted in a Web Worker, so the page stays responsive. Nothing is uploaded: the conversion runs in your browser, and Open from URL fetches the file directly from the address you enter. See the privacy page.
Details
Images become their alt text in brackets, or are removed. Emphasis disappears without replacement; headings can be upper-cased to keep them visible. Raw HTML tags are stripped and their text kept.

How do I remove Markdown formatting from text?
Paste it here. Asterisks, underscores, backticks, # signs and link syntax are removed; the text and its structure stay.
Can I clean up ChatGPT output?
Yes. AI answers are Markdown; this turns them into clean text for e-mails or documents.
Will I lose links?
No. By default each link keeps its URL in parentheses. Choose “Text only” to drop URLs.
Can I wrap long lines?
Yes, at 72, 80 or 100 characters, useful for plain-text e-mail and commit messages.
Is it different from HTML to text?
Yes. This page reads Markdown. For web pages and HTML e-mails use HTML to text.
