Checking whether this browser can decode HEIC…

Or drop HEIC files or a folder here. Up to 200 photos; nothing is uploaded.

Files never leave your browserHow?

This HEIC viewer opens HEIC and HEIF photos in your browser and shows their details – camera, lens, exposure, date taken, location and colour profile. The files are not uploaded.

How it works

  1. Open photos

Tap Open HEIC photos or drop one or more files; the first one opens at once.

  2. Look closely

Switch between fit to screen and actual size, browse the images of multi-image files and read the photo details.

  3. Save if you need

Save the photo as JPG or PNG, or go to the converter for many photos at once.

Features

  • Full-size view

See the photo at its real resolution with correct rotation, mirroring and crop as stored in the file.

  • EXIF details

Camera model, lens, shutter speed, aperture, ISO, focal length, software and the date taken with time zone.

  • GPS as text

Latitude and longitude in decimal and degrees–minutes–seconds plus altitude, with a warning and a link to remove the location.

  • Technical facts

Dimensions, bit depth, transparency, depth map, colour profile such as Display P3, HEVC profile and the number of tiles.

Limits & privacy

Photos up to 64 MB each; up to 200 photos can be opened in one session. Images over 100 megapixels (50 megapixels on phones) are not decoded. Apple Live Photos store their video in a separate MOV file, so the viewer shows the still image only.

Decoding needs the HEVC decoder of your system; the page checks this as soon as it opens. Nothing is uploaded – see the privacy page.

FAQ

How do I open a HEIC file on Windows without an app?

Open this page in Chrome or Edge on Windows 10 or 11 and choose the file. The browser uses the system HEVC decoder, so you do not need to install anything.

How can I see where a photo was taken?

If the HEIC has GPS data, the viewer shows the coordinates as text. Paste them into any map app to see the place.

Can I view HEIC photos on a Mac or iPhone?

Safari already shows HEIC natively. The viewer adds the metadata panel and saving as JPG or PNG.

Why does a HEIC file contain several images?

HEIF is a container: it can hold bursts, stereo pairs from Apple Vision Pro or edited and original versions. The viewer lets you switch between them.

Are my photos sent anywhere?

No. The file is read and decoded inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded and no copy is kept after you close the page.

Why can I not open HEIC in Firefox?

Firefox does not give web pages an HEVC decoder. Use Chrome or Edge on Windows or macOS, Safari, or Chrome on Android.
