Files never leave your browserHow?

This Markdown table generator turns a spreadsheet-like grid into GitHub Flavored Markdown as you type. Edit cells, paste a block from Excel or Google Sheets, set alignment per column and copy the table.

How it works

  1. Fill the grid

Type into the cells, paste a range copied from Excel, Google Sheets or LibreOffice, or import an existing Markdown, CSV or TSV table.

  2. Shape the table

Add or delete rows and columns, drag them into a new order, sort a column, transpose, and pick left, center or right alignment for each column.

  3. Copy the Markdown

The Markdown below the grid updates on every keystroke. Check the rendered preview, then copy it or download a .md file.

Features

  • Paste from spreadsheets

A pasted block of cells fills the grid from the cell you are in and grows the table when needed. Quoted cells with line breaks are kept.

  • Per-column alignment

Each column has its own alignment, written as :---, :---: or ---: in the delimiter row, and the padded output follows it.

  • Drag, sort, transpose, undo

Reorder rows and columns by dragging or from the ⋯ menus, sort numerically or alphabetically, swap rows and columns, and undo or redo any step.

  • Markdown inside cells

Bold, code and links typed into a cell stay Markdown. Only pipes are escaped as \| and line breaks become
.

  • Aligned or compact output

Padded so the pipes line up, or compact; outer pipes optional.

Limits & privacy

The grid holds up to 1,000 rows and 50 columns; imported files can be up to 2 MB. Convert larger data with CSV to Markdown Table.

Markdown tables cannot merge cells or hold block content such as lists. Everything runs in your browser and the draft never leaves this device – see the privacy page.

Typing a Markdown table by hand is fine for three cells and tedious for thirty: every edit shifts the pipes, and a missing pipe silently moves a value into the wrong column. Here the padded output is rebuilt on every change, so the source stays readable in a pull request.

FAQ

How do I make a table in Markdown?

Write a header row, a delimiter row of dashes and one line per row, with cells separated by pipes. This generator writes that syntax for you from the grid.

How do I paste a table from Excel or Google Sheets?

Copy the cells, click the cell where the block should start and press Ctrl+V (Cmd+V on a Mac). The rows and columns are added automatically.

How do I center or right-align a column?

Use the alignment menu above the column. Center writes :---: and right writes ---: in the delimiter row.

How do I put a line break inside a cell?

Press Shift+Enter in the cell. The break is written as
, which GitHub and most renderers show as a new line. Enter alone moves to the next row.

Can I edit an existing Markdown table?

Yes. Paste the table into a cell or use Import table: the header, rows and alignment are loaded into the grid.

Is my table saved?

With Autosave draft on, the table is kept in this browser only and restored on your next visit. Nothing is uploaded.
