How it works

  1. Pick the app type

    MobileApplication, WebApplication, VideoGame or the general SoftwareApplication, and one of the categories Google documents.

  2. Details and price

    Operating system, version, download URL, screenshots, a feature list and the price – 0 for free apps.

  3. Rating or review

    Google requires one of them for the rich result; add them only from real users and copy the block.

Features

  • Google's app categories

    GameApplication, BusinessApplication, DeveloperApplication, FinanceApplication and the other values from Google's documentation in a list, so the category is always valid.

  • Price that counts as present

    Free apps get an Offer with price 0, the value Google expects; paid apps add the currency.

  • Reviews with their rating

    Individual reviews with author, rating, scale and date, next to the aggregate rating.

  • Clear eligibility message

    Without a rating or review the markup is still valid schema.org, and the check says exactly that it is not eligible for the app rich result.

Limits & privacy

Imported JSON-LD or HTML can be up to 1 MB. One offer per app can be set in the form; in-app purchases and several stores need editing in the JSON.

Ratings, reviews and download numbers must come from your own page. The generator cannot verify them, and invented numbers can lead to a manual action against the whole site.

FAQ

What does Google require for software apps?

name, offers.price and either an aggregate rating or a review. applicationCategory and operatingSystem are recommended.

My app has no ratings yet – should I add the markup?

Yes, it describes the app correctly. It will not show as a rich result until real users rate it on your page.

Can I use the ratings from an app store?

Not as your own aggregate rating. Google's review guidelines forbid copying ratings from other sites; show reviews that were left on your page.

Which type should a browser tool use?

WebApplication. Use MobileApplication for iOS and Android apps and VideoGame for games.

Is operatingSystem free text?

Yes: write it as users would, for example "Windows 11, macOS 14" or "Android 9+".
