Google allows the current page (last item) without "item"; it then uses the page URL.

BreadcrumbList markup that matches your visible trail
This breadcrumb schema generator creates BreadcrumbList JSON-LD for a page's position in your site. Build the trail from the page URL or type each level, and positions are numbered for you.

How it works
Start from the URL
Paste the page address and the path segments become levels, from the home page down. Rename them to the titles shown on the page.
Adjust the trail
Add, remove or move levels. Position 1, 2, 3 … is written automatically in the order of the list.
Copy the script
Copy the ready script block; the Check tab confirms that every item has a name, a position and – except the last – a URL.
Features
Trail from a URL
Slashes, hyphens and underscores are turned into readable labels, and every level gets the absolute URL of its folder.
Google's last-item rule
The current page may be written without an item URL; Google then uses the URL of the page itself. A checkbox does exactly that.
Positions that stay correct
Reordering never leaves gaps or duplicates in position, a common reason for breadcrumb warnings.
Import and edit
Paste existing BreadcrumbList JSON-LD (or a page's HTML) and the levels appear in the form, sorted by position.
Limits & privacy
Imported JSON-LD or HTML can be up to 1 MB. Building from a URL only uses the address you type – the page itself is not loaded.
Labels created from URL segments are guesses (for example “science-fiction” becomes “Science fiction”): replace them with the titles of your categories. Breadcrumbs are not a ranking factor; they change how the result is displayed.
Validation uses the schema.org vocabulary (© schema.org sponsors, CC BY-SA 3.0, see licenses). Nothing is uploaded – see the privacy page.
FAQ
What does Google require in breadcrumb markup?
A BreadcrumbList whose itemListElement holds ListItem entries with position and name, and with item (the URL) on every level except the last one.
Should the home page be the first crumb?
Usually yes, if the visible breadcrumb starts with it. The markup should describe a typical user path, not the folder structure of the server.
Can a page have more than one breadcrumb trail?
Yes. A product in two categories can carry two BreadcrumbList blocks; Google may show either.
Absolute or relative URLs?
Use absolute URLs with https and the canonical host. Relative URLs are resolved against the page, but absolute ones avoid surprises.
Does the breadcrumb have to be visible on the page?
The markup should reflect a breadcrumb that users can see. Google uses it to show the page's position in results instead of the raw URL.
