Files never leave your browserHow?

This converter reads a GitHub Flavored Markdown table and writes it as CSV that opens in Excel, Google Sheets or any database tool. Paste the table or a whole .md file and download the CSV.

How it works

  1. Paste Markdown

Paste a table, a README or any .md document, drop a file or open one from a URL. Every table in it is found.

  2. Pick the table and format

Choose the table, decide whether cells keep their Markdown or become plain text, and pick a CSV preset such as Excel or semicolon.

  3. Download the CSV

Check the preview grid, then copy the CSV or download it as a .csv file.

Features

  • Reads tables like GitHub

Escaped pipes (\|), pipes inside code, missing outer pipes, short rows and alignment colons are read the way GitHub renders them.

  • Plain text cells

Bold, italics, code marks and links are removed by default and <br> becomes a real line break inside the CSV cell.

  • Excel-ready

Presets write a UTF-8 BOM and CRLF for Excel, or semicolons and decimal commas for European Excel, with RFC 4180 quoting.

  • Formula protection

Cells starting with =, +, -, or @ are prefixed with an apostrophe so a spreadsheet does not run them as formulas.

Limits & privacy

Markdown files can be up to 20 MB. Files above 5 MB are converted from the file without loading them into the editor.

Only GFM pipe tables are recognised. Tables inside fenced code blocks are skipped, as GitHub renders them as code; HTML <table> markup inside the Markdown and tables nested in lists or quotes are not read – use HTML Table to Markdown for the former. A Markdown table has one header row, which always becomes the CSV header.

Your document stays in your browser; see the privacy page.

FAQ

How do I convert a Markdown table to CSV?

Paste the table. The CSV appears on the right; download it or copy it.

My README has several tables. Which one is converted?

The first one. Choose another table in the Table list, which shows the header and size of each.

Can I keep links and bold text?

Choose Keep Markdown source in Cell content: the cells keep their Markdown, such as **Aurora** or [docs](https://…).

Why does a cell start with an apostrophe?

It began with =, +, - or @, which spreadsheets treat as a formula. Turn off Protect against formulas if you trust the data.

What if a row has more cells than the header?

Extra cells are ignored, as GitHub ignores them, and a warning tells you on which line it happened.
