Subtitles to a readable transcript

This converter turns subtitle files into plain text. Cue numbers, timecodes and formatting tags are removed, repeated lines from auto-generated captions are merged, and you can get one line per subtitle or flowing paragraphs.

How it works

  1. Add subtitle files

Paste subtitles or drop one or many .srt or .vtt files – YouTube, Zoom and Teams exports work.

  2. Choose the layout

Line by line, one cue per line or paragraphs that start after a pause; add timestamps or remove sound notes and speaker labels.

  3. Download the text

Copy the transcript, download a .txt per file, or a ZIP when you converted several files.

Features

  • Clean transcript

Numbers, "00:00:01,000 --> …" lines, <i> and <font> tags, {\an8} position codes and HTML entities are removed or decoded.

  • Rolling captions fixed

Auto-generated captions repeat each line in the next cue; repeated lines are dropped so every sentence appears once.

  • Paragraphs by pause

In paragraph layout the text flows and a new paragraph starts after a pause of two seconds (adjustable) between cues.

  • Optional clean-up

Remove [Music], (laughs) and ♪ lyric ♪ notes and "HOST:" or "- " speaker labels for a text that reads like an article.

  • SRT and VTT

WebVTT files are read too, including voice tags and NOTE blocks; the Checks tab lists broken timings or empty cues.

Limits & privacy

Up to 200 files, each up to 20 MB, 100 MB in total. Encodings such as Windows-1251 or Windows-1252 are detected; you can force one in the input options. Nothing is uploaded. See the privacy page.

FAQ

How do I convert an SRT file to text?

Drop the .srt file or paste its content. The text without numbers and timecodes appears on the right; download it as .txt.

Can I keep the timestamps?

Turn on Add timestamps. Each cue (or paragraph) starts with its start time in [hh:mm:ss] form.

Why are some lines missing?

Remove repeated lines drops a line that equals the previous one, which is how rolling captions repeat text. Turn it off to keep everything.

Can I convert many subtitle files at once?

Yes, drop up to 200 files. Each becomes a .txt file; download them one by one or all together as a ZIP.

Does it work with YouTube subtitles?

Yes. Download the captions as .srt or .vtt from YouTube Studio or another tool and open them here.
